Thalun International School aims to create balanced, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for kids that promote collaborative activities, critical thinking, creativity, and global awareness. The school program integrates key academic subjects such as English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies with Music, Digital Technology, Art, Physical Education, Drama, and Video Production.

With the exception of the Myanmar language program, all classes are taught in English. At each school level, students are exposed to the beauty and historical significance of Myanmar through field trips and cultural studies. The host culture will boost the learning of all students.

The curriculum framework is standards-based and organized in units that gradually build on one another. The decision to use the AERO (American Education Reaches Out) standards framework was made because, while it is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), it also recognizes that pupils are worldwide and represents that cultural variety in its content.

Teaching approaches are based on best practices from throughout the world and promote inquiry and critical thinking. Teachers continuously assess each student's growth and provide an instructional experience that prepares them with the skills, values, and information required for academic and life success.

The after-school activity program (ASA) allows students in grades PK through G12 to participate in extracurricular activities and groups. Every trimester, a range of activities are offered, giving students the opportunity to try new things or enhance their skills in others.

Offerings change every trimester to match student preferences and community talents. Thalun International School had 22 activities in trimester one, ranging from cooking workshops and Mandarin lessons to filmmaking and K-pop choreography. Students in trimester two might choose to continue an existing activity or participate in new options such as TED-Ed or origami club.
