The company was founded in 2000 in New Zealand by scientist Dr. Corran (Corrie) McLachlan and his business partner, Howard Paterson, who realized that not all milk is created equal. A2 Dairy Company continues to pioneer this area of science and research, bringing natural milk that contains only A2 protein and no A1 to the world.

A2 Milk Company Co., Ltd. manufactures products from cows that produce natural milk with solely A2 protein. The business is divided into four divisions, Australia and New Zealand, China and Other Asia, the United States, and Mataura Valley Dairy. Infant formula, milk, and other dairy products are sold in Australia and New Zealand, as are royalties, license fees, and rental money.
