The Chatwal New York
The Chatwal New York ranks 2nd in the list of the best hotels in NYC with free stuff. If silence is golden, in New York City, the Chatwal is priceless. In a recent stay in a spacious suite—with all the luxury accoutrements you’d expect from a hotel that brands itself as such—you’d never know thousands of people making their way to and from the heart of Times Square were even there. And it sure is nice to imagine solitude, if only for a few hours.
One is immediately reminded of Old New York's sophistication upon entering the Chatwal. Enter The Lambs Club, a contemporary American restaurant from chef Geoffrey Zakarian, formerly of The Country, after passing through the Art Deco lobby and bar (the building was created in 1905 by renowned American architect Stanford White). The restaurant, which used to be frequented by artists like Charlie Chaplin, Spencer Tracy, and Fred Astaire, now serves delicious steaks, seafood, and a perfectly balanced gin gimlet.
The opulence continues upstairs: the room has a full-wall closet inspired by Louis Vuitton trunks, and a personal butler knocks on the door to see if you need anything right now. During your stay, you will have access to a 24-hour fitness center that is modest but functional and has a small lap pool. You can also schedule a soothing appointment at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, where you can relax in your very own private dressing room. To create your own scent or candle, you can even schedule a consultation with a Krigler perfume expert. The Chatwal is prepared to treat you if you're ready to splash out.
