The Da Vinci Code
The Da Vinci Code is a 2006 American mystery thriller film directed by Ron Howard, written by Akiva Goldsman and based on Dan Brown's 2003 best-selling novel of the same name. The first installment in the Robert Langdon film series, the film stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Sir Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Jürgen Prochnow, Paul Bettany and Jean Reno.
In the film, Robert Langdon, a professor of religious iconography and symbology from Harvard University, is the prime suspect in the murder of a curator at the Louvre Museum in Paris. He escapes to avoid arrest and sets out to find the real killer, using clues left at the scene of the crime that lead to the works of Leonardo da Vinci. Along the way, he discovers a dark secret that could change the history of Christianity.
The Da Vinci Code grossed over $758 million worldwide on a production budget of $125 million. Despite its commercial success and generally positive reviews from critics, the film was controversial due to its themes about Christianity and alleged distribution of inaccurate information. But still, the film was exhilarating enough to be included in the list of best movies set in Paris. Audiences do not really care about history accuracy; they only want a great movie to watch on holidays!
