The Edron Academy
The Edron Academy was founded in 1963 by Edward Foulkes, a Welshman who had experience in publishing and teaching for the British Council in Mexico, along with Ronald Stech, a Canadian who became the school's first administrator.
Their aim was to create a caring learning community where every child would feel safe, valued, cared for, and free from stress and hostility. Over the years, the school has maintained these values while adapting to growth and change.
In 1993, The Edron Academy achieved bicultural status by partnering with the Mexican education authority (SEP). It then became an IB World School in 1995.
In the early years, the school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, as well as the Mexican curriculum set by SEP. In the Kinder program, they use a Constructivist approach, focusing on hands-on learning and active participation.
For secondary education, The Edron Academy offers the IGCSE and the IB Diploma. Their educational philosophy revolves around personalized learning, with high expectations for all students.
Today, The Edron Academy is a prestigious private school with a unique approach. They provide an adapted version of the British Curriculum that combines the advanced and culturally diverse aspects of British programs. They also prioritize recognizing and addressing the specific needs of Mexico, as outlined by the Mexican Education Ministry.
