The Elements of Style
William Strunk Jr. (1 July 1869 – 26 September 1946) was a Cornell University English professor and the author of The Elements of Style (1918). After being revised and expanded by his former student E. B. White, it became a highly influential guide to English usage in the late twentieth century, popularly known as Strunk & White.
