The European Graduate School

The European Graduate School, established in 2015, is a private higher-education institution in Valletta, Malta's medium-sized city (population range of 2,500-9,999 inhabitants). At addition, there is a branch campus in Saas-Fee. The European Graduate School (EGS) is a coeducational Maltese higher education institution that is officially recognized by Malta's Ministry of Education and Employment.

The European Graduate School (EGS) offers courses and programs in a variety of fields that lead to officially recognized higher education degrees such as master's and doctorate degrees. EGS also offers students a variety of academic and non-academic facilities and services, such as financial help and/or scholarships, as well as administrative support.

Paolo Knill started it in 1994 in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. The Swiss Canton of Valais, which is represented on the board, was a co-founder. As part of a larger plan to build a network of Expressive Arts Therapy training institutes, the school first provided Expressive Arts Therapy programs. Wolfgang Schirmacher founded the Media & Communication branch in 1998.

EGS is recognized in the Swiss canton where it works and is licensed as a university in Malta, but it is not recognized by the Swiss University Conference, the country's major governing organization for universities. Teaching is primarily done from afar, with only brief visits to the school required; ad hoc sessions in various cities are also held.
