The Hobbit is the next book on the list, and it is a huge success. The Hobbit has sold over 100 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling books of all time.

A great modern classic and the prelude to The Lord of the Rings. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who lives a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely venturing beyond his pantry or cellar. But his happiness is shattered when the wizard Gandalf and a band of dwarves appear on his doorstep one day, ready to whisk him away on an adventure. They've devised a plan to raid the treasure trove guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a massive and terrifying dragon. Bilbo unwillingly joins their quest, unaware that on the way to the Lonely Mountain, he will come across a magical ring as well as the terrifying creature known as Gollum.

J.R.R. Tolkien's kid fantasy novel was initially published on September 21, 1937, and was promptly nominated for the Carnegie Medal and granted a prize for finest juvenile fiction by the New York Herald Tribune. The Hobbit has never been out of print and has inspired a cinematic adaption series, which was initially released in 2012 and has gone on to become one of the highest-grossing film series of all time.
