The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is a New York based stock exchange. Remarkably, in April 2007, the New York Stock Exchange merged with a European stock exchange known as Euronext to form what is currently NYSE Euronext which now owns NYSE Arca (formerly the Pacific Exchange). To be listed on the New York Stock Exchange, a company must have upwards of $4 million in shareholder's equity.
The NYSE is also the largest stock exchange in the World, with a market capitalization of 24.49 trillion dollars as of January 2021. With 2400 companies listed on the NYSE, These firms are diversified across all sectors, and a principal percentage of the World's top blue-chip stocks, Johnson & Johnson, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase & Co., are listed on the NYSE.
