The One With The Stoned Guy (Season 1, Episode 15)
The Plot: Rachel and Phoebe try to assist Monica as she tries to impress a potential new boss, while Ross struggles with a romantic request and seeking counsel from Joey. Jon Lovitz plays Steve, a restaurant entrepreneur who comes to Monica's flat for a culinary demonstration. Unfortunately, after a brief obsession with the term "tartlet," Steve swings from Lovitz's gruff persona to stoned out of his mind, rummaging for munchies in the kitchen.
Despite Lovitz's top-tier cameo, the episode's biggest scene may be Chandler walking in on Joey rather aggressively teaching Ross the art of nasty language after an embarrassing date blunder. It's not so much how Chandler exits his room after Joey demands Ross tell him he wants to caress him as it is watching Chandler's excitement at this unexpected walk-in as Ross and Joey discover they are not alone. The chuckle was there in the set-up, but Chandler's patience in letting it grow and basking in the discomfort improves the moment.
