The World’s Biggest Tree House

Kids often adore the concept of a tree house. There is nothing inherently objectionable about a house in a tree. However, there is a significant distinction between the typical tree home and the one Horace Burgess built over the course of nearly 20 years.

Burgess, who built what is known as the Minister's Treehouse, asserted that God gave him the 1993 building permit. Burgess built a ten-story monster skyscraper with 3,000 square meters of interior space and more than 250,000 nails using six oak trees as support. It featured 80 rooms in addition to a kitchen, a wraparound porch, classrooms, and bedrooms. As a result, it was more of a tree mansion than a tree house.

The penthouse suite on the top floor included a basketball court-sized open area as well as a half-ton church bell. It was shut down by the local fire department in 2012 because it was against fire regulations in the area. This proved to be a wise decision because the building was later destroyed by a fire that consumed the entire area in just 15 minutes.
