Chinese Tianjin Airlines, with headquarters at the passenger terminal building of Tianjin Binhai International Airport in Tianjin's Dongli District, operates domestic scheduled passenger and cargo flights from this airport. Tianjin Airlines inked a contract for 22 Embraer planes in the middle of 2015. (20 Embraer 195s and 2 Embraer 190-E2s). It is part of a bigger arrangement from 2014 for 40 aircraft, the remaining 18 of which still need Chinese government approval. Later in 2015, the first Embraer 195 will be delivered, while the first Embraer 190-E2 will arrive in 2018.

In order to begin offering international long-haul flights to locations in Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, the airline will get its first Airbus A330 aircraft in 2016. In 2016, Tianjin Airlines began offering long-haul flights to Moscow-Sheremetyevo, London-Gatwick, and Auckland in New Zealand. Beginning in October 2017, long-haul routes to Melbourne will be offered. Beginning on May 7, 2018, Tianjin Airlines switched the previously scheduled Xi'an-London Gatwick service to London Heathrow.
