u-blox
Swiss firm u-blox produces wireless semiconductors and modules for use in consumer electronics, automobiles, and industrial settings. They are a "fabless IC" company that also does design work. u-blox is a Swiss company that has been around since 1997. The corporation is publicly traded on the Swiss Stock Exchange (SIX:UBXN) and maintains overseas branches in a wide variety of countries, including the United States, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, India, Pakistan, Australia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Italy, and Greece.
Chips and modules for use with GNSS receivers like GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS are manufactured and sold by u-blox. In the Internet of Things, the convergence of 2G/3G/4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and satellite-based navigation enables the delivery of complete systems for location-based services and M2M applications (machine-to-machine communication).
After going public in 2007, they've made a dozen acquisitions, including ConnectBlue in 2014, Lesswire in 2015, and Rigado's module business this year. u-blox bought out Thingstream in 2020. In 2021, u-blox AG strengthened its position in the rapidly expanding high-precision GNSS sector by acquiring Sapcorda Services GmbH, a provider of high-precision GNSS (global navigation satellite system) services. In 2021, u-blox AG bought Naventik GmbH, a German firm that focuses on autonomous driving safety positioning solutions, to increase its foothold in the industry.
u-blox's prototype starter kits make it easy to test out new IoT ideas quickly. From 2002 until his retirement on December 31, 2022, Thomas Seiler was the CEO of u-blox AG. After joining the firm in 2022, Stephan Zizala took over for Seiler.
