Union Oyster House
One of the oldest restaurants in America is the Union Oyster House which has been serving diners since 1826, is one of the country's oldest operational restaurants, and the oldest known to have been open continuously since its founding. On May 27, 2003, the structure was designated as a National Historic Landmark. The Union Oyster House, near Faneuil Hall on the Freedom Trail, holds the distinction of being America's oldest eatery.
While several of the restaurants on this list are older, Union Oyster House claims to be the United States' oldest continually functioning restaurant, as it has been in the same location since 1826. The structure that houses Union Oyster House is considerably older, dating back to at least 1714 and having been utilized for a variety of companies before becoming a restaurant.
Surprisingly, Union Oyster House's menu hasn't altered much over the years, and it's always featured an oyster bar. Union Oyster House also serves typical New England fare such as meats and baked beans, in addition to seafood.
