Universidade de Cabo Verde
The Universidade de Cabo Verde (University of Cape Verde) was founded in 2006 and is a non-profit public higher-education institution based in the tiny city of Praia (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), which is the best university in Cape Verde. There are other branch campuses for this school in the following cities: So Vicente, Mindelo. Its organic structure consists of two colleges and three higher schools, with six campuses scattered across numerous places, making it Cape Verde's largest university in terms of physical structure. The university was ranked fifth best university in Portuguese-speaking African countries by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in 2016, and it was by far the finest university in the country.
The Universidade de Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) is a tiny coeducational Cape Verdean higher education institution that is officially recognized by the Ministério da Educacao e Desporto, Cabo Verde (Ministry of Education and Sport of Cape Verde). In several fields of study, the Universidade de Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees. This Cape Verdean higher-education school, which is 13 years old, has a selective admission procedure based on entrance exams. Uni-CV also offers a library, lodging, financial aid and/or scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning possibilities, as well as administrative services to students. Its origins can be traced back to the initial post-independence period, when the country's first higher school was established in 1979. Uni-CV was founded in 2006 following a gathering of three independent public higher education institutions.
The formation of the three state institutions committed to higher education in the country, ISE, ISECMAR, and INAG, provided the institutionalization that allowed Uni-CV to be founded. The Council of Ministers established the University of Cape Verde on November 20, 2006, by Decree-Law No. 53/2006, bringing together ISE and INAG in Praia and ISECMAR in Mindelo. The National Institute of Agrarian Research and Development (INIDA), located in So Jorge dos Rgos, became the university's fourth school in 2007. Uni-CV had substantial support from Brazilian universities in the early years of its existence, particularly in the areas of teacher training and administrative experience exchange.
