University of Saint Joseph, Macau

University of Saint Joseph, which was founded in 1996 by the Catholic University of Portugal and the Diocese of Macao, was modeled after top European universities and is today a center for international collaboration framed by Macao's distinct local character. USJ is part of a Macanese heritage of intercultural education that dates back to 1594, when the first Western-style university in East Asia was established.

Students and faculty members at USJ come from over 40 different countries to pursue knowledge in the service of mankind. USJ's learning environment is a powerful incubator of ideas, generating creativity and creative solutions to pertinent global concerns, thanks to this combination of backgrounds and viewpoints.

USJ is largely taught in English, however all students are encouraged to study Chinese and Portuguese, the two official languages of Macao. Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Education, Environmental Science, Religious Studies and Philosophy, and Business and Law are among the study areas available. Critical and creative thinking are emphasized in each program through collaborative and practice-based learning, with self-reflection on the ethical implications of one's education encouraged at all times.

Outside of the classroom, University of Saint Joseph offers a variety of clubs and other athletic and cultural activities that allow you to establish strong friendships. As a USJ graduate, you'll be part of a global network of dedicated alumni working in their chosen areas.
