The Institution of Sousse is a Tunisian public university located in Sousse. The University of Sousse was founded in 2004 as a part of the University of the Center, which was founded in 1991 as a result of the merger of the University of Monastir and the University of Sousse. In 30 schools, the University of the Center had risen fast from 45,000 students in 2001-2002 to nearly 60,000 students in 2003–2004. Monastir, Kairouan, and Gafsa all got new universities in 2004.
One of its Alumni, Samir Dilou, Minister of human rights, transitional justice and government spokesperson under Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali since 20 December 2011.
