Vlkolinec
Vlkolnec is one of Central Europe's few remaining folk villages, with typical log cottages close to a stunning Baroque chapel and an ancient old bell tower. The tiny village is nestled in an exquisite setting amidst forest-clad hills and farms, with mountains visible in the distance, making it a really quaint and charming destination to visit. Since 1993, Vlkolnec has been a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it is one of ten Slovak villages that have been designated as folk architecture reserves. The village was given this status because it is a unique and intricate example of folk countryside architecture in the Northern Carpathians.
As a result, there are numerous excellent hikes in the surrounding area. Apart from that, there is not much to do except relax and enjoy the peaceful, laid-back atmosphere while admiring the fine folk architecture.
