Volvo Group
The Volvo Group is a multinational manufacturing company based in Gothenburg, Sweden. While its primary business is the manufacture, distribution, and sale of trucks, buses, and construction equipment, Volvo also offers marine and industrial drive systems, as well as financial services. With its subsidiary Volvo Trucks, it was the world's second-largest maker of heavy-duty trucks in 2016.
Volvo Cars, situated in Gothenburg, was a subsidiary of AB Volvo until 1999 when it was sold to Ford Motor Company. Volvo Cars has been owned by the automotive firm Geely Holding Group since 2010. AB Volvo and Volvo Cars both use the Volvo logo and work together to run the Volvo Museum in Sweden.
Volvo was founded in 1915 as a subsidiary of SKF, a ball bearing manufacturer; nevertheless, both the Volvo Group and Volvo Cars consider the launch of the company's first automobile series, the Volvo V 4, on 14 April 1927, to represent the start of their careers.
As one of the largest manufacturing companies in Sweden, the Volvo Group is a global leader in the production of trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine and industrial engines. Volvo, Volvo Penta, Rokbak, Renault Trucks, Prevost, Nova bus, Mack, and Arquus are among the company's brands. They have affiliations and collaborative ventures with SDLG, Eicher, and Dongfeng.
