Waterman Pen Company
The Waterman Pen Company, located in Paris, France, is a leading manufacturer of premium fountain pens and inks. Lewis Waterman founded "Waterman S.A." in New York City in 1884, making it one of the few remaining first-generation fountain pen enterprises. The renowned brand is a first-generation luxury pen company that specializes in top writing tools with unique styles, inventive designs, and high-quality equipment. Waterman pens include fountain pens, premium ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, ink cartridges, and inks for a beautiful writing experience.
Early Waterman pens were composed of stiff rubber and had 14-karat gold nibs. Precious metal accents and overlays were available from the start. Many of them are still in use today, and their nibs are highly valued for their smoothness and flexibility. Because of Waterman's large production volume beginning around 1900, vintage copies are quite easy to find now. The #12 slip-cap eyedropper, #52 screw-cap lever-filler, and #42 retracting-nib safety pen were the most popular versions during the hard rubber era. Though mostly overlooked by modern collectors, the Waterman C/F invented the modern plastic ink cartridge in 1953.
