What to wear in Algeria

The appropriate clothing to wear in Algeria varies depending on which city or town you are visiting. While people in major cities like Algiers and Oran are open-minded, this is not the case in smaller towns and rural areas. Algerians are free to dress however they want. Many Algerian women choose to wear the hijab, while the rest wear whatever they want while remaining culturally correct. Women's clothing includes jeans and t-shirts/tank tops. Women living in major cities also wear knee-length dresses. Beach shorts and miniskirts are very popular. Let's talk about the beach. It is perfectly acceptable to wear swimwear while at a paid beach or in your hotel.
