Wild and Rare Animals
The Philippines is home to a wide variety of unique animals and has a great biodiversity. The Philippine tarsier, one of the world's tiniest primates, is one of these. These nocturnal animals, which are known for their large eyes, are found in the province of Bohol. One of the top diving locations in the world is the Philippines because of its abundance of marine species. Some underwater activities you might schedule include diving with thresher sharks in Malapascua and the sardine run in Moalboal.
Swimming with whale sharks is an experience you only get once in a lifetime (locally known as butandings). Destinations famed for this experience include Oslob in the province of Cebu and Donsol in the province of Bicol. To minimize stress on these enormously delicate animals, it is preferable to observe them during their normal migration routes, where you can observe and swim alongside them from a safe distance. When traveling to the Philippines, make sure to see the gorgeous Philippine Eagle, which is the country's national bird. It is one of the biggest and rarest eagles, and you can see it in Davao at the Philippine Eagle Center, a must-add to your itinerary when visiting Davao.
