Willenborg Ferris wheel

You can't miss the giant wheel at Oktoberfest if you're in Munich. It stands 50 meters tall and is one of the event's icons. Despite its occasionally sulphurous image, it is, above all, a typical Bavarian event. The Ferris wheel can accommodate up to 400 people at once, with each of the 40 gondolas accommodating 10 people. The view from the 50-meter-high Ferris wheel spans the entire Theresienwiese, from Bavaria to St. Paul's Church, behind which Munich's Old Town with the Church of Our Lady can be seen.

On bright days, and especially strong foehn winds, you can even see the Alps to the south! Even in the dark, the journey is an unforgettable experience: The tents, booths, and attractions create a brilliant, multicolored sea of lights that can only be seen in Munich once a year. A trip to the Wiesn isn't complete unless you ride the Willenborg. The Ferris wheel is appropriate for all ages, from infants to grandparents. There is an additional parking area for pushchairs and buggies, and wheelchair users are welcome as well - just ask the staff! Even if it rains, you won't get wet: neither in the gondolas nor in the covered "station", where music keeps those waiting entertained.

In terms of wait periods, the lines are frequently large, although it takes less time than you may anticipate. It begins in mid-September and concludes on the first Sunday of October. It has been commemorating King Louis I of Bavaria's wedding for almost two centuries.
