Yampah Vapor Caves

The Yampah Spa Vapor Caves are natural subterranean hot mineral water steam baths found in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, a historic hot springs mountain getaway. Hot mineral waters at 125 degrees Fahrenheit pour through the cave floors to produce their natural geothermal steam spas. The Vapor Caves are made up of three interconnected underground rock chambers. Visitors descend a stairwell within the main building and enter the caves via a stone passageway. The peaceful stillness of the caves is pervaded with a sense of well-being. Relax on slab marble benches in the rocky alcoves and breathe in the warm, dimly light cave chambers. Stress and tension simply melt away. Temperatures in the cave average 110 -112 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing for multiple trips of 10-12 minutes each, interrupted by brief naps in an adjacent cooling room or upstairs in the huge solarium. In the caves, there is also cold water and little tubs for cooling off.

The hot springs are located on a hillside behind the spa. The natural, untreated therapeutic water comprises 34 minerals and trace elements, with a concentration of sulfate, nitrate, zinc, and potassium in particular. The water from the hot springs rushes through the caves at a simmering 125 degrees F through small, shallow passageways. The 120-year-old Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves continue a long heritage of healing and rejuvenation for visitors. The caverns and a wide choice of outstanding spa treatments work together to cleanse the body and spirit while soothing aches and pains.
