    Barker

Barker shoes have been an English tradition for over 135 years, having been founded in 1880. The company only uses carefully selected leathers, and the uppers are hand-shaped on the lasts. Barker continues to use traditional production methods like as slow natural drying and polishing, and its footwear is still created in the Northamptonshire community of Earls Barton (as well as some in India). Even after over 135 years of shoemaking, traditional shoemaking processes are being utilized to offer you a high-quality product. The shoes' hues are achieved solely via the use of natural environmental pigments mixed with mild polishing.

Barker shoes not only stun with their superb comfort and wearability but also with their exceptional lifespan. Because of the welted design, they are also very easy to repair. This distinctive pattern is found mostly in sophisticated men's shoes such as the Derby or Oxford styles. The upper is joined to the insole by an inconspicuous welt seam. Overall, this production method is a highly difficult and time-consuming procedure, which is why only high-quality materials are employed.

Featured product: Barker Men's Brown Bailey Derby Shoes. 2. Joseph Cheaney founded Cheaney in 1886, then in 1896, he and his brother Arthur moved to the location where the factory is still located today. Originally, Cheaney created white label shoes exclusively for some of the world's most prestigious stores, each customized to their specific needs. But it was the founder's grandson, Joseph Humphrey Cheaney, who saw the necessity for the company to develop its own line of shoes.

Cheaney was sold to Church's English Shoes in 1964, allowing the brand to be distributed to merchants all over the world, with the Desborough factory providing a comprehensive in-stock service. Jonathan and William Church, who are both relatives of a family that has been creating high-quality shoes for five generations, bought the company in 2009. Most importantly, they are fully committed to providing the greatest English-made footwear.

Glossy leather is created with a permanent high shine by applying layers of acrylic or resin over the leather to give it a shine. Smooth leather shoes are prone to scratches and damage, so be careful how you walk when wearing a pair. With this in mind, Oxford whole cut is a good alternative to smooth leather, if you're interested in calfskin. This means you are more likely to be able to wear shoes more often, such as in a business setting.

Featured product: Florence R Fur Lined Derby Boot in Almond Grain Leather. Florence is one of Cheaney's most enduring women's designs, and it continues to be a fan favorite year after year because of its classic, high-ankle form, pebbled finish, sturdy yet practical double Dainite rubber sole, and casual rural appeal. Florence is a casual design that stays ageless, reimagined this season in hand-burnished almond grain calf leather and features pull tabs, ski hook closure, and characteristic stitching detail.

  3. In 1890, Edward Green opened his shoemaking factory in Northampton. His name became synonymous with the highest quality English Goodyear welted footwear. Edward Green shoes are one of the most expensive brands on this list, but they are justified by the fact that they are handcrafted from the world's best leathers.

Each pair is handcrafted in the Northampton workshop using the same principles that have guided the brand since its inception in 1890. Each pair of shoes is meticulously crafted and honed to capture the ageless elegance of the uniquely English style favored by the likes of Ernest Hemingway and the Duke of Windsor.

Featured product: ALBERT BLACK VELVET - Edward Green. The Albert is a velvet dress slipper that is a magnificent addition to any sartorial-minded man's collection. The Albert is made on Edward Green's 389 last and has a large, rounded toe. The Albert is a classy shoe for both formal and casual events, thanks to its narrow and beautiful waist.

  4. George Cleverley was born on August 10, 1898, into a shoemaking family in London, and began working as an apprentice at the age of 15. After serving in the army during WWI, he went to work for Tuczec, a high-end London shoemaker on Clifford Street in Mayfair. He stayed for 38 years before leaving in 1958 to start his own company, G.J.Cleverley of Cork Street, Mayfair, London.

He created the 'Cleverley shape,' a graceful, chiseled-toed shoe that became a brand signature. While Cleverley shoes are handcrafted in London, the closing is outsourced. And their ready-to-wear shoes are made in Northampton (by a couple of the above-mentioned shoe manufacturers).

Featured product: Dark Brown Leather Roughout Nathan Chukka Boot. This dark brown 3-Eyelet chukka boot with a simple front has all of the hallmarks of fine craftsmanship. It has leather linings and Goodyear®-welted soles, and it's a great boot to pair with jeans and a long-sleeved polo.

  5. Since 1866 in London and 1902 in Paris, John Lobb has been making shoes and boots for gentlemen. Currently, the firm continues its bespoke shoemaking history in Paris, as well as infusing key bespoke concepts into the manufacturing of its ever-expanding ready-to-wear assortment of shoes and leather products.

The Hermès Group purchased John Lobb in 1976, causing the most upheaval. The London bespoke workshop, John Lobb Ltd, however, has remained in the family's hands and continues to operate independently from its premises at 9 St James's Street. The bespoke atelier in Paris, the By Request service and ready-to-wear collection, as well as all of the other John Lobb boutiques, are all owned by Hermès.

In 1994, John Lobb opened its Northampton workshop, where the ready-to-wear line is still designed and handcrafted today. All of its shoes uphold John Lobb's timeless traditions of exceptional quality, fine craftsmanship, comfort, durability, and elegance.

Featured product: HOLTON - Single leather sole. A classic slip-on with a wing-cap and a row of broguing and gimping on the cap's edge and along the vamp seam.

    Loake

Since 1880, when John Loake founded the first Loake factory with his brothers, Thomas and William, the Loake family has been producing classic English shoes. Five generations and more than 130 years later, the Loake name is synonymous with beautiful, handcrafted shoes. Loake premium-grade Goodyear-welted shoes are still created in Kettering, England, in the same factory that the three brothers constructed in 1894.

However, in addition to Loake's English Goodyear-welted footwear, the business currently designs and manufactures a range of shoes outside of the UK in India, utilizing a variety of structures. This allows them to provide a whole wardrobe of shoes at a lower price range. We must state that the quality is still present.

A cursory inspection of the shoes reveals that they are in good condition, with no obvious flaws. Given their history of producing conservative and traditionally fashioned shoes, Loake appears to have a strong grasp on quality control.

Featured product: LOAKE PIMLICO-SUEDE. Our 'Loake' is a premium sneaker with rubber cup soles for increased lifespan and traction. Loake employs the 'Sneaker' last form for a spacious fit and a prominent toe shape, and it comes in an 'F' fitting.
