  1. Lenovo made some nice upgrades to its flagship business laptop's 9th Generation version. Along with rapid performance from 11th Gen Intel CPUs, you get extended battery life (15 hours! ), powerful quad speakers, a new 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, and lots of connections, all housed in an amazingly light chassis (2.5 pounds).

But it's the X1 Carbon's typical ThinkPad attributes — a tough build (MIL-STD-810G strength), best-in-class keyboard, and stealthy black/red aesthetics — that propel it to brilliance.

Yes, we wish the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen9) had a better webcam and hadn't dropped the SD card reader. Furthermore, premium configurations might be somewhat pricey; nonetheless, you'd be hard pushed to find a better business laptop.

    • Welcome to the new Apple computer era. Apple's M1 Pro proprietary SoC is another step in Apple's deliberate decoupling from Intel. The ARM-based 5-nanometer chip is mid-tier in the M1 family, but it's no slouch, thanks to a 10-core CPU, 16-core graphics chip, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

The MacBook Pro 2021 14-inch offers excellent performance and battery life. If that isn't enough, when combined with Big Sur, you get faster browser load times and a better 1080p webcam experience - courtesy of Apple Silicon. In a nutshell, the new MacBook Pro offers all Apple has promised and more. If the 14-inch MacBook Pro is too expensive, try the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, which has a longer battery life and adequate performance for regular office work.

    • With the ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6, Lenovo is betting on metal, and the gamble is paying off. While we still like the matte-black carbon fiber finish seen on most ThinkPads, the aluminum Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga G6 is a stunning change of pace. This convertible 2-in-1 not only has a small design, but it also has a bright 14-inch 16:10 display, a best-in-class keyboard, and a long battery life. These features combine to offer the ideal Lenovo laptop for anybody seeking for a convertible.

You also receive a number of extras, such as a built-in pen slot and a camera cover. We still like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon for its super-lightweight design, but if you want to use a pen, the Yoga is the way to go.

If you prefer a detachable, check out our ThinkPad X12 Detachable review. Do you want anything spicier? The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is a fantastic choice.

      • If you value battery life, the Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 is the business laptop for you. Even with the screen brightness set up, the 2-in-1 laptop effortlessly powered through a full day of use. But the Latitude 9420 2-in-1's 15+ hours of battery life isn't the only reason to buy it; it also offers a stylish, flexible design, rapid performance, and some helpful sign-in choices.

Perhaps most amazing is the laptop's incredible durability despite its magnificent 14-inch, 2560 x 1600-pixel 16:10 display.

All you have to do is walk up to this Dell, and it will recognize you owing to its proximity sensor. This makes logging in extremely simple because you don't need to enter any passwords or even glance at an IR camera.

The Latitude 9420 2-in-1 is yet another significant step up for Dell's notoriously boring business laptops. We hope the next iteration has a better webcam and is less expensive, since if it does, the X1 Carbon will no longer be the greatest business laptop.

        • Slim, but durable chassis
        • Fantastic QHD+ 16:10 display

        • The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is the next to enter the top best business notebooks. Microsoft Surface Pro 8 isn't a huge improvement over its predecessors. Still, it adds enough significant improvements to an already superb 2-in-1 tablet to place it among the top 2-in-1 laptops.

The larger screen and smaller bezels give it a more contemporary appearance, while the rounded corners give it a much more tablet-friendly feel, which is supported by some of the new software touches in Windows 11. The new Slim Pen 2 paired with the Type Cover provides a built-in pen with a tactile feel for a better inking experience for creatives or frequent note-takers.

A bit longer battery life would have been fantastic, and the price increase may be difficult for some to accept. Overall, the Surface Pro 8 is a strong addition to the Surface series and an appealing alternative for anyone wanting to replace their laptop for the Windows 11 transition.

Not convinced by the Surface Pro 8? See our ThinkPad X12 Detachable review. If you want more devoted business functionality, the Surface Pro 7+ is a more enterprise-focused take on the previous-generation Surface Pro design.
