The series follows the story of You Keika, a poor and unlucky exorcist who dies in an accident and becomes a spirit. He meets Tanmoku Ki, a powerful and handsome spirit master who offers him a pact: to become his spirit shadow and help him fight evil spirits.

The series explores the bond between You and Tanmoku, who are destined to be partners in life and death. They face various challenges and enemies, as well as their own pasts and feelings. The series also features other characters, such as Shin Shiyou, Tanmoku's fiancée; Ritsu, Tanmoku's loyal servant; and Shouken, Tanmoku's previous spirit shadow.

The series has two seasons, with the first season airing in China from June 21 to November 1, 2016, and in Japan from January 7 to March 11, 2017. The second season aired in China from February 23 to May 11, 2018, and in Japan from April 7 to June 9, 2018. The series is available on Crunchyroll outside of Asia.
