  1. The hotel is tucked away in a residential area on the outskirts of Beverly Hills, yet it is nevertheless conveniently located for some serious retail therapy because it is close to the stylish shops on Robertson and a quarter mile from Rodeo Drive. The Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art are located further east. At this 5-star resort, where the hotel car is a limo, a diamond facial is the most popular spa service, and bath items are Bottega Veneta, act like the glitterati and get ready to be spoilt rotten. Although a stay here is pricey, visitors do receive their money's worth.

    Four Seasons LA
, one of the Best Hotel Brunches in Los Angeles, is not in the least bit trendy, hip, or current. Instead, this legendary hangout for celebrities takes pleasure in its elegance. Any time of day or night, you may find a tidy group of doormen and valets waiting at the intersection of Doheny and Burton Way. One step into the enormous foyer, which features glistening marble floors, eye-catching floral arrangements, and bronze sculptures of everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Vincent van Gogh, and one immediately feels as though "I have arrived." The 16-story tower still has the venue's Old World elegance, which some may find a little out of date after a $33 million refurbishment. However, the 285 sumptuous guest suites of the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles have Frette linens and chinoiserie headboards, walk-in closets, sunken tubs, private balconies with views of the always beautiful Beverly Hills, and iPods loaded with countless exercise programs (order mats and resistance bands to the room for no additional fee). Of course, that doesn't have to be your only exercise; a 24-hour indoor/outdoor gym is also complimentary. Swim in the saltwater pool before driving a fancy automobile around town. The life is what it is.

  2. Swans, a lush environment, a star chef—the Hotel Bel-Air is unquestionably a place for lovers. The brunch menu at Wolfgang Puck (Sun 11am-3pm, $75 per person) has everything you could want from a weekend morning fairytale, including a Bloody Mary menu, an abundance of egg dishes (our favorite is the traditional soft, French-style omelet with wild mushroom, applewood-smoked bacon, potatoes, and Gruyère), and a delicious blintz with ricotta and strawberry compote. Stop over on weekdays for breakfast to tuck into acai bowls, egg white frittatas, and baskets of freshly baked pastries.

After a thorough two-year renovation, this opulent and subtly decadent 1920s Mission-style hotel, a dreamy retreat on 12 acres of beautiful landscaping, reopened in 2011. Although there have been some impressive additions, such as new lofts and hillside suites, a La Prairie spa and fitness center, as well as upgraded room amenities, the general atmosphere has thankfully remained relatively unchanged. Visitors still enjoy spending long afternoons by the pool, meandering through the gardens, or subtly trying to spot which Hollywood actor is seated at the next table in the Wolfgang Puck restaurant.

  3. At the upscale Hollywood hotel Mama Shelter, the restaurant's motto is "just way mama used to cook it." When you approach the hotel lobby, you are met with a bar on your left, a few tables on your right, and entertainment in the form of a futsal table, TVs, and more all around you. However, one could almost claim that the restaurant is Mama Shelter. It's the ideal spot to get a quick breakfast—perhaps some chilaquiles or potato latkes with smoked salmon—or pay them a visit for brunch (Sat & Sun, 7am-3pm), which offers a similar menu in addition to heartier options like fried chicken and a Wagyu burger.

She brings together businesspeople and dancehall DJs mamamoji, rhinestone cowboys and Sunset Strip rockers mamamoji, paint-splattered artists and well-heeled designers. The hotel is a short distance from the Walk of Fame mamamoji and several shops, so it's right in the thick of things while still managing to maintain its cool, collected demeanor.

  4. Greetings from paradise. The scenic resort, located in upscale Rancho Palos Verdes on an oceanfront bluff, is a Mecca for leisure and resort living. The 102-acre resort has four pools, including an adult-only one, a spa, a nine-hole golf course, and eight restaurants. There is also horseback riding, snorkeling, and paddleboarding if that isn't enough to keep you occupied. The variety of accommodations includes everything from standard rooms and suites to bigger, more opulent bungalows, casitas, and villas. Show your best side when relaxing by the pool as there are rumors that even a few Hollywood movies were made here.

Imagine yourself poised on a bluff with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the lovely scenery with a delicious bread basket, warm coffee cake, cast iron-baked frittata, and a Ramos Fizz made with egg whites, cream, and orange flower water. One of the eight restaurants at Terranea Resort, Mar'sel, serves brunch (10 am–2:30 pm) with a variety of farm-to-table dishes that are all produced on site. Stick to baked items, such as a glut of croissants and English muffins topped with homemade jams, as well as fresh salads and omelets from the farmers market. Looking for a situation more akin to breakfast? Visit Catalina, Nelson's, or one of Terranea's other eateries for sunrise specials and early-morning breakfasts.

  5. The Fig restaurant at the Fairmont Miramar has long been a favorite among people who enjoy brunch and farmers' markets. Diners may load up on breakfast burritos, quiches, and steak and eggs for brunch (Sat & Sun 11am-2:30pm), while drinkers come for the Kegs and Eggs, any brunch item paired with limitless draft beer. From cereals and fruit bowls to tofu scramble and lemon ricotta pancakes, breakfast options are plenty.

Since almost a century, the Miramar has catered to the affluent and influential in California; previous visitors have ranged from Greta Garbo to Bill Clinton. The hotel was built in 1924 and has since undergone a number of stylish modifications, the most recent of which involved remodeling the lobby and the Grille. The 32 bungalows with private patios surrounded by lush tropical landscaping are in high demand from families, while the other guest rooms provide views of the ocean or the city. Seasonal cuisine at Fig Restaurant consistently receives high marks, while mind-body treatments are the main focus at Exhale Spa.

  6. The Polo Lounge is an L.A. institution and Mecca for the power lunch set, but you'll find as many denizens here for breakfast and brunch (Sun 11am-4pm, $79 per person) as well. On Sundays, the idyllic, pink-hued restaurant is decked out with a live jazz band and enough booze-filled libations (Bellini or Kir would be the order for the sophisticated diner) to fill until happy hour.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also offered every day, and if you're dining alone, a waiter will be pleased to hand you a copy of Variety or The Hollywood Reporter to read while you eat. However, if you're not really a "brunch person," rest assured that this establishment actually caters to everyone. The bar offers a sizable cocktail menu for late-night libations to a dressed-up clientele (you'll probably see some famous faces here) who enjoy live piano music. Try the delicious chocolate soufflé in the Polo Lounge for the ideal nightcap.

You'll undoubtedly find your Sunday brunch at The Polo Lounge to be very glitzy even if you're not a Hollywood VIP trying to cut a deal over your eggs Benedict. There may not be a finer location to enjoy lemon ricotta pancakes or a frittata than on the lovely outside patio of The Polo Lounge, despite the fact that it is a little on the cheesy side (spotless white tablecloths with live jazz music). The bar offers beverages for late-night consumption.

  7. Choose between the beachy Coast and the New England-chic One Pico at Shutters on the Beach's two dining options for both breakfast and brunch. Large groups should reserve a table near One Pico's fireplace, while groups of two or four can use the front seats with a view of the water. The brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu has seafood selections like tuna Niçoise salad and lobster BLT as well as adult breakfast favorites like eggs Benedict, lox, and more. The breakfast menu at Coast includes several nutritious alternatives, such as yogurt parfaits and smoothies, and brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Shutters, formerly a hip refuge for hot Hollywood celebrities and now a sibling property to Casa del Mar, has a laid-back yet unmistakably sophisticated aesthetic. The lobby, which is adorned with cozy couches, club chairs, and works by contemporary masters like David Hockney, mimics the beach cottage feel of the rooms and suites, which have wonderful, dark hardwood floors and the hotel's distinctive white shutters. Spend a day at the spa or lounge poolside while sipping wine and admiring the ocean if you prefer light pampering to the numerous beach activities. Even if the luxury is understated, it is nevertheless luxury.

  8. The Ace Hotel, located in the middle of South Broadway, makes it simple to explore Downtown Los Angeles' many hidden attractions, including speakeasy-style cocktail bars and chic eateries that are now Instagram celebrities in their own right. Watch out for the 7th Street Metro Center, a significant transportation hub that connects to Koreatown and Union Station.

The Ace Hotel, which features two bars, a New American restaurant, and a lobby coffee shop as its public offerings, is aimed at night owls, artists, and musicians. Although its inhabitants are likely to pay more attention to the cocktail menu than the Spanish-Gothic elements in the masonry, the spectacular 1920s building lends cultural cred.

Don't undervalue the rich past of this bustling hipster hangout: the United Artists theater, a 1,600-seat Spanish-Gothic Revival masterpiece next to the Ace Hotel lobby, is housed in the once-tallest building in Los Angeles (if only for a year) in 1927. It is also the crown jewel of LA's emerging Broadway Theatre District. The opulent former movie palace has been updated with contemporary digital projection and a cinema sound system; a similar thing has happened in the rooms, which still bear visible signs of their 1930s heyday (rough concrete, boxy layout), but have also been given millennial touches like Navajo blankets and white subway tile bathrooms. With additional area to spread out on the floor with a guitar (many rooms have acoustic Martin guitars hanging on the wall) or do some in-room yoga, it truly is an artist's loft. After a lively evening on the hotel's rooftop, a favorite hangout for zingy cocktails, DJ events, and dazzling views of the DTLA cityscape, the purposefully empty rooms can be a welcome retreat.
