  1. The Silent Sea is a 2021 South Korean streaming television series starring Bae Doona, Gong Yoo and Lee Joon. Director Choi Hang-yong created the series of eight episodes as an adaptation of his 2014 short film, The Sea of Tranquility, with the help of writer Park Eun-kyo. It is available on Netflix on December 24, 2021. The title The Silent Sea is a reference to the moon's Sea of Tranquility; the plot depicts a crewed expedition to gather samples from a lunar research outpost. It is mostly science fiction, but it also has elements of thriller and mystery. It garnered mostly good feedback from critics and audiences.


    Set in the future, when desertification has produced a global shortage of water and food. Yoon Jae is a space agency soldier. He gets chosen to fly to the moon with a crew that includes Ji An.   2. Squid Game is a South Korean survival drama television series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix. Its cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-joon, HoYeon Jung, O Yeong-su, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi, and Kim Joo-ryoung. Gong Yoo is a salesman who recruits participants for the Game.


    The series centers on a tournament in which 456 players, all of whom are in dire financial need, risk their lives to play a series of lethal children's games in order to win 45.6 billion (US$38 million, €33 million, or GB£29 million as of a broadcast) prize. The series' title is based on a Korean children's game of the same name. Hwang based his concept on his own early economic problems, as well as class disparities in South Korea and capitalism. Though he wrote it in 2009, he was unable to find a production firm to fund it until Netflix expressed interest in it around 2019 as part of their effort to broaden their foreign programming options.

  6. The Age of Shadows is a 2016 South Korean period action thriller film directed by Kim Jee-woon and written by Lee Ji-min and Park Jong-dae. The film is set in Shanghai and Seoul in the 1920s and stars Song Kang-ho and Gong Yoo. It was selected as the South Korean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.   8. A Man and A Woman is a 2016 South Korean romance film directed by Lee Yoon-ki. It stars Jeon Do-yeon and Gong Yoo as two people who meet and begin a love affair in Finland. The film was released on February 25, 2016. On a cold winter day, Sang-min (Jeon Do-yeon) asks Ki-hong (Gong Yoo) for a light. The two strangers have dropped their kids off at a pickup area for a children's camp in Helsinki, Finland.


    Sang Min travels to Finland to enroll her autistic kid in a specialized program. She feels so alone in snow-covered Helsinki. Ki Hong is an architect on assigned service in Finland. His family isn't perfect though, with a depressed kid and a mentally unstable wife. The two initially meet at the gathering place of this particular camp.   9. The Suspect is a 2013 South Korean action thriller film starring Gong Yoo, and directed by Won Shin-yun. Gong Yoo is Ji Dong-cheol, a former highly ranked North Korean spy turned defector investigating the murder of his family and accused of the murder of a business executive.


    Dong Chul was North Korea's top special field agent, but he was abandoned by his country on a mission. While fleeing, he searches for his wife and kids, who were sold as slaves to China, only to find their bodies. He quickly discovers that his colleague was responsible for the murder and defects to the South in quest of his adversary. He searches for him throughout the day and works as a temp driver and personal driver for chairman Park at night.   10. Silenced is a 2011 South Korean crime drama film based on the novel The Crucible by Gong Ji-young, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk and starring Gong Yoo and Jung Yu-mi. It is based on incidents that occurred at Gwangju Inhwa School for the Deaf in the early 2000s when young Deaf pupils were the victims of repeated sexual assaults by teaching members over a five-year period.


    The video, which depicted both the crimes and the judicial processes that allowed the instructors to escape with minor penalty, generated widespread indignation following its publication in September 2011, resulting in the reopening of the investigations into the occurrences. With over 4 million Koreans having seen the film, the demand for legislative reform eventually made its way to the South Korean National Assembly, where a revised bill, dubbed the Dogani Bill, was passed in late October 2011 to abolish the statute of limitations for sex crimes against minors and disabled people.
