AJS E95 Ultra Rare Porcupine

Bonhams has announced that an AJS E95 Ultra Rare Porcupine motorbike will be auctioned at the forthcoming Quail Lodge event in August. The car in issue is one of only four E95s produced by the company. Because of the spiky cooling fins on the cylinder head, the bike was dubbed Porcupine. The AJS E95 Ultra Rare Porcupine is a renowned racing bike created by the now-defunct British motorcycle company AMC. Only four of these motorcycles were ever made, making it one of the most valuable.

One of the four AJS E95 Porcupines was sold for roughly $675,000. during Bonhams August sale in Carmel, California in 2011. This remarkable invention was built during WWII and has spent the last two decades at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.

A 500cc inclined-engine powers the motorbike. Its cylinders are at a 45-degree angle, which allows for improved cooling. At 7600 rpm, the engine allegedly generated 55.7 horsepower.
