Amal Clooney

Amal Ramzi Alamuddin is a Lebanese-British lawyer, human rights activist and philanthropist. A graduate of Oxford University and New York University Law Schools, she has earned international acclaim for her long and successful career in international law and human rights. Her famous clients have involved Armenia and other countries in the Turkish government's struggle to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Amal Clooney became engaged to and married to American actor George Clooney in 2014, and immediately became a household name in popular culture. However, a few years ago, she was already famous and respected in the legal profession for her skillful and successful client representation. Her work ranges from addressing social justice and human rights issues, to representing the interests of several multinational corporations, from negotiating and litigating government regulations. As of 2015, she is working as a lawyer at London-based firm Doughty Street Chambers, one of the legal representatives of the British courts.

• While Amal was a student at St. Hugh's College of Oxford, she received the prestigious Shrigley Award given for excellence in law studies.
