Brenda Marjorie Hale, Baroness Hale of Richmond, DBE, PC, FBA (born 31 January 1945) is a British Judge who served as Chief Justice of the United Kingdom from 2017 until her retirement in 2020.
Brenda Marjorie Hale entered the Senate in 2004 as a senator. She is the only woman appointed to this position. She held the position of Attorney General until 2009 when she moved to the new Supreme Court along with other legal circles under the Constitutional Reform Act of 2005. She served as a Supreme Court Justice from 2013 to 2017.
On September 5, 2017, Hale was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, chaired by Theresa May, taking office on October 2, 2017. She was the first woman and third person to take on this role. Hale has served as a Non-Executive Judge of Hong Kong's Last Court of Appeal since July 30, 2018.
