Anchor Lutheran School
Anchor Lutheran School (ALS) is situated in Anchorage, Alaska, close to Dimond Boulevard. With the backing of affiliated churches, Zion Lutheran Church and Anchorage Lutheran Church, Anchor was established as a non-profit, autonomous school by the Lutheran School Association of Anchorage (LSSA) in 1979.
Anchor Lutheran School provides standardized tests to help students be ready for college admission exams. Graduates of Anchor frequently get test scores above the national average. Instructors determine students' grades and attainment levels using criteria-based evaluations and rubrics. The design of Anchor Lutheran School aims to give children a well-rounded education, make it easier for them to acquire lifelong skills, and encourage topic transfer.
Anchor Lutheran School is fully accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) for a period of six years. Anchor alumni are now employed as doctors, engineers, teachers, contractors, and more, and they have been accepted and enrolled in some of the best colleges in the world. On its campus, Anchor Lutheran School boasts a talented and committed group of educators. They are a multicultural group with members from all across the country, with Alaska accounting for the lion's share. More than 70% of the faculty has postgraduate degrees in teaching.
