Lumen Christi Catholic High School
Initially, Lumen Christi Catholic High School was only open for grades 7 - 10 but later expanded to include grades 11 and 12. Most of the full-time instructors have master's degrees or higher in their specialties. It belongs to the Alaska School Activities Association and is a 1A school in terms of athletics. The Archangel serves as Lumen Christi's mascot and silver and navy blue serve as the school's colors.
In addition to being regionally certified by the Northwest Association of Certified Schools through AdvancED, Lumen is a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA). This is why Lumen Christi Catholic is on the list of the best private high schools in Alaska. Lumen Christi does not adhere to the Common Core Curriculum, instructors and parents there collaborate to develop the school's curriculum. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' suggestions are in line with the curriculum.
Lumen Christi offers students a variety of opportunities to form enduring bonds with their peers outside of their religious practices and academic pursuits. Nearly 80% of students participate in one or more co-curricular pursuits. Lumen Christi has something for everyone, whether it's sports, debate, one-on-one peer mentoring, or student government.
