Animals Living in Madagascar

In Madagascar, there have historically been many different types of living things, but as humans, we have sadly wiped out a number of unique species. The largest birds in the world, elephant birds, are one example of a species that is eaten. These birds were roughly 3 meters in length. The loss of this unique bird species to future generations is tragic. Madagascar continues to have a very unique way of life today. Even more people travel to Madagascar to witness these rare creatures. Madagascar is a small island in a very large planet. That is one of the many reasons to visit Madagascar. However, due to its vibrant variety, it is more plentiful in many places of the world. Only creatures native to Madagascar are included here.

Only in Madagascar do you find the extinct elephant birds, the largest birds in existence. Giraffe Beetle, Micro Chameleon, Dancing Sifaka, Gecko, Tomato Tortoise, Flat Lizard, Comet Safari, Spear Nosed Snake, Tenrec, Fanaloka, Fossa, Indri, Black Lemur, Mye-Aye, and many other species are examples of animals that only exist in these regions.
