Ankara University
Ankara University, established in 1946, was the first institute of higher education in the modern Turkish Republic. With almost 60,000 students, it is a public university with a diverse academic portfolio that includes courses in social, medical, natural, and applied sciences, as well as arts and sports. It also provides programs at the associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctorate levels. There are also distance and continuing education courses available.
Ankara University is located near the center of Ankara, Turkey's capital and the country's second-largest city after Istanbul. Within the city, it is divided into 14 faculties, nine graduate schools, and other research institutes. The campus itself provides academic and recreational amenities, as well as housing for undergraduate students. There is a sports center, a swimming pool, and a gymnasium, as well as several student groups.
Ankara has been a participant in the Erasmus program since 2004, and it has a plethora of relationships. IAU, EUA, and UNICA are also members.
Its alumni include Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener, Istanbul Mayor Muammer Guler, and former Turkish Stock Exchange CEO Osman Birsen.
