Anthony G. Creber
Tony Creber is Senior Partner of Gowling WLG's Ottawa Office and former Canadian Head of Gowling WLG's Litigation and Intellectual Property Strategy Group.
Tony has over 38 years of experience in intellectual property litigation and is recognized as one of Canada's premier litigation experts. Tony focuses on chemical and pharmaceutical patent litigation, including serious patent infringement cases. His work also includes strategic advice on trademark litigation, regulatory issues, and intellectual property lifecycles. He has served in the Federal Court of Justice (both litigation and appeal) and the Supreme Court of Canada on patent matters, including patentability of life forms, patent licensing, and biotechnology patent infringement.
In his Supreme Court appearance, Monsanto v. Schmeiser and Apotex v. SanofiSynthelabo ("Plavix").
Tony generally represents patent holders and many large pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly, BMS, Novartis, HoffmannLa Roche, Purdue, Allergan and Sanofi.
Over the past 25 years, Tony has been consistently recognized by numerous publications as one of Canada's leading intellectual property attorneys and attorneys. Anthony, Lead Partner of Apotex v SanofiSynthelabo Canada, was honored with the prestigious 2014 Highlight of the Year and Patent Case 2009 Award from the Intellectual Property Office. Tony also received the 2014 Intellectual Property Expert Award in Intellectual Property Management. This year, MIP again named him a "star" in both patents and trademarks, maintaining a gold rating in the IAM Patent 1000 lawsuit, calling him a "legend".
