ASE Group
The ASE Group, a subsidiary of Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (Chinese: ), is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and offers independent semiconductor assembling and test production services. In 1984, Jason Chang and his brother Richard Chang launched the first of many factories in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Jason Chang is the current chairman of the board and one of the world's billionaires, according to Forbes.
The corporation was worth $8.77 billion as of April 1st, 2016. ASE Group and TDK signed a partnership agreement in May 2015 to form ASE Embedded Electronics Inc. in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The company uses TDK's SESUB technology to produce IC embedded substrates. As part of the consolidation in the global semiconductor business, ASE and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) announced on May 26, 2016 that they had inked a deal to form a new holding company. Each company has stated that it will continue to operate under its own name, with its own management team, and under its current business strategy.
