Aselsan
Aselsan is a Turkish defense corporation headquartered in Ankara, Turkey, specializing in the research, development, and manufacture of advanced military products for air, land, and maritime forces. Founded in 1975 by the Turkish Army Foundation, Aselsan is one of the major contractors of the Turkish Armed Forces and was ranked by Defense News as the 48th largest defense company in terms of revenue. Aselsan specializes in producing communication systems, radars, avionics, electronic warfare systems, air defense systems, targeting systems, and other military electronics equipment.
Aselsan operates five business sectors: Communication and Information Technologies, Microelectronics, Guidance and Electro-Optics, Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems, Defense Systems Technologies, and Transportation, Security, Energy, and Automation Systems. Aselsan’s methodologies comply with military standards, ISO 9001, and use computer-aided design, engineering, and manufacturing technologies.
In 2015, Aselsan opened its brand-new Radar and Electronic Warfare Technology Center in Gölbaşı district of Ankara. The site produces radar and electronic warfare equipment required by the Turkish Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force), and space and unmanned platforms. The facility covers an area of 75,000 m2 and employs a total of 776 engineers, 261 technical personnel, and more than 200 support personnel.
Aselsan also has associated companies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. In addition, the company announced in October 2015 that they plan to expand its South African business by seeking partnerships to form a private company out of its local branch, Aselsan South Africa. Aselsan’s product portfolio includes unmanned surface vehicles, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, guidance kits, remote weapon turrets, electronic warfare systems, and more.
