The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) is a private college in Kuwait's Mubarak Al-Abdullah Al-Jaber Area that was founded in 2004 as the country's first private technical college. The college began as a maritime vocational education college. Later, the diploma program was expanded to include a bachelor of technology program (based on a 2+2 model) in areas such as business and engineering. The college also has an aviation training program. Under Amiri Decree 141/2003, it was licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and began operations in October 2004.
The college follows what is known as a 2+2 model. Students begin with a two-year full-time Diploma program, after which they can choose to leave ACK and begin working or, if they have achieved the required GPA at the time of diploma graduation, continue for another two years of full-time study to complete a bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering Technology.
ACK is made up of four distinct academic/training units:
- School of Engineering: diploma and degree programs in petroleum (oil and gas), civil, mechanical, and electronics engineering are available.
- School of Business: diploma and degree programs in management and marketing are available.
- Aviation: a diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is available (Mechanical). The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Kuwait, and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates have all approved the program as a Part-147 Maintenance Training Organization (UAE).
- Foundation Skills Program: provides English and information technology courses to students during their first preparatory year of enrollment.
