Avengers: Endgame
Avengers: Endgame is a 2019 American superhero film based on the superhero team Avengers from Marvel Comics. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this film is the direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the film features an ensemble cast including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd and Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, John Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, Josh Brolin. The surviving Avengers members and their allies in the film attempt to undo the destruction caused by Thanos in Infinity War.
In October 2014, the film was released as Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2, but the title was later removed by Marvel. The Russo brothers joined the team as managers in April 2015, and a month later Markus and McFeely signed up to write the script. The film serves as the conclusion of the MCU story up to this point, ending the story of some key characters. The plot revisits several moments from the previous film, bringing the actors and sets from throughout the franchise back to life. Filming began in August 2017 at the Pinewood Atlanta studio in Fayette County, Georgia, followed by Infinity War and ended in January 2018. Additional filming took place in the Metro and Downtown Atlanta area, New York State, Scotland and the United Kingdom. The official name was revealed in December 2018. With a budget of $356 million to $400 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made.
Avengers: Endgame premiered in Los Angeles on April 22, 2019 and was released in the United States on April 26 as part of Phase 3 of the MCU. The film was praised for its director, acting, music score, action sequences, visual effects and emotional weight, and critics praised 22film's climax in the story. The film grossed $2.798 billion worldwide, surpassing all Infinity War screenings in just 11 days, becoming the highest-grossing film of all time from July 2019 to March 2021, setting numerous box office records. The film won numerous awards, including nominations for Best Visual Effects at the 92nd Academy Awards, three nominations (two) at the 25th Critics' Choice Awards, and nominations for Special Visual Effects at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards.
