Awwwards

Because of the rigorous standards set by the Awwwards, only the most innovative and ground-breaking examples of online design and art are submitted for consideration. The caliber of the jury can be inferred from the originality displayed. Timothy Noah, a Webflow whiz, and our very own Ryan Morrison are among them. To determine the winners, Awwwards uses the expertise of prominent figures in the field of contemporary web design.

When it comes to recognizing the best of the best in contemporary online design, Awwwards is very much the gold standard, especially when compared to the Webbys (which cover a wider range of categories). And that's because of a couple of things.

  • Expert jury voting: Awwwards features a hand-picked committee of web experts to evaluate each submission, while most inspiration sites are solo endeavors. And they don't simply look at how "pretty" a site is; they analyze it across a number of criteria, including its layout, functionality, originality, and content, and give it a score across each of these categories. The grading scheme is also explained.

  • Breakdowns in detail pages: But they don't cease being open by explaining how they score. On the site's detail page, they show you how normal community members (which you are welcome to join) and jury members rated the site on all four criteria.

  • Extensive tagging: At the end of the process, Awwwards assigns a variety of descriptors to each site, describing things like the frameworks and platforms it was built on, the colors it primarily uses, and its industry or vertical.
