Baker Hughes is based in Houston and was founded in Delaware. Baker Hughes Incorporated was the company's original name until it combined with GE Oil and Gas in 2017 to form Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE), and then it divested from General Electric in 2019 to become Baker Hughes Company. GE no longer owns a majority of Baker Hughes, holding only 30% as of December 2020, and plans to sell the remaining 30% over the next few years.
