Banco de Crédito e Inversiones

The Chilean bank Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (BCI) specializes in asset management, insurance, securities brokerage, and savings and deposits. The Latin American affiliate of Bear Stearns was BCI. The Yarur family founded and currently owns BCI. Juan Yarur Lolas established the Bank in 1937 with the goal of assisting Chile's small and medium-sized businesses. Until his passing in 1991, his son Jorge Yarur Banna presided as the second president. In the meantime, a branch was bombed in Santiago in 1970. Third generation Yarur family member Luis Enrique Yarur Rey serves as the country's president at the moment.

BCI's main business segments include commercial banking, corporate banking, investment banking, and insurance. The bank offers a variety of financial products, such as savings accounts, checking accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, investment products, and insurance policies. BCI also provides banking services to businesses, including financing, cash management, foreign exchange, trade finance, and leasing. The bank's investment banking division provides advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other corporate finance transactions.

BCI is a member of the multinational Confederation of Popular Banks (CIBP), a Brussels-based multinational organization that links together cooperative banks from throughout the world. BCI is currently the third largest private bank in terms of loans and the fourth largest in terms of client base, trailing private banks Banco Santander Chile and Banco de Chile, as well as the state-owned Banco Estado.

BCI has a strong presence in Chile, with over 300 branches and more than 10,000 employees. The bank has also expanded its operations in other countries, including Peru, Colombia, the United States, and China. BCI paid $882 million to Spanish lender Bankia in 2013 for Miami, Florida-based City National Bank of Florida. In South Florida and Orlando, City National has 26 locations.
