Beryl Carvalho - Eyes Alive Ocularist

Beryl Carvalho and the Eyes Alive Ocularists provide custom-designed, individually created, and hand painted ocular prosthetics, as well as supplying and fitting a variety of stock ocular prosthetics, or artificial eyes.

Ocularists are eye care professionals who specialize in the creation and fitting of ocular prostheses for persons who have lost an eye or eyes due to trauma or sickness. A custom built eye is normally manufactured by taking an imprint of the eye socket, molding a plastic shell or model, painting the iris and sclera, and finally fitting the ocular prosthesis.

The Ocularist not only makes the prosthetic eye, but also teaches the patient how to care for and use it. The Ocularist also offers long-term care for the patient by doing periodic checkups and providing expert treatment for the prosthetic eye.
