Bewl Water
Bewl Water is a reservoir in the East Sussex/Kent borderlands of England, in the River Bewl valley. South of Lamberhurst, Kent, is 3.2 kilometers away. The reservoir was a component of a plan to increase the local water supply. It serves Thanet, Hastings, and the Medway towns, which are served by Southern Water.
In 1973, work on the reservoir's construction started after a valley was dammed and flooded. After being filled with more than 31,300 million liters of water, it was finished in 1975. Building the project cost £11 million. It has grown to be the largest inland body of water in southeast England.
Bewl Water is a fantastic day trip destination between the Kent and Sussex border. It is close to the charming village of Lamberhurst and the stunning Scotney Castle and is accessible by the nearby A21 within an hour of Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Tonbridge, Maidstone, Ashford, Eastbourne, and Sevenoaks. On and around the reservoir, a variety of recreational activities are conducted. These include walking and cycling, canoeing and kayaking, fishing for trout, sailing and windsurfing, and rowing and sculling.
