Kielder Water
There is a sizable artificial reservoir called Kielder Water in Northumberland, in North East England. It is the largest man-made lake in the UK in terms of water volume, and Kielder Forest, one of the biggest man-made woodlands in Europe, surrounds it. The project was conceived in the late 1960s to meet the anticipated increase in water demand caused by the UK's burgeoning industrial economy. Kielder Water is one of the most beautiful lakes in the UK.

Leaplish waterside park and Tower Knowe visitor center are the two main visitor centers at Kielder Water. Kielder, Falstone, and Stannersburn villages also have facilities. It is also one of the main tourist attractions in the area, drawing more than 250,000 tourists a year to use the amenities.
