The national curriculum serves as a roadmap for education in Mozambique, to direct the educational process in that country. This procedure lays out the framework for how education should be developed, managed, evaluated, and carried out at all levels (central, ministerial, academic, and management).
The primary national curriculum is broken down into the learning cycles that are displayed below:
- Grades 1 and 2 are included in the first cycle. The student is required to write final exams in mathematics and Portuguese after the second grade.
- The school's second cycle comprises grades 3-5. This implies that the student who has approved the second grade can continue with this learning cycle. Students should complete the final exam covering the material from all three classes at the end of fifth grade.
- In this final cycle of primary school instruction, students are in grades 6 and 7, respectively. The student is required to write the final exams covering the material from the previous two grades after grade 7. If the student succeeds, he will receive legal criteria and resources to enable him to enroll in and complete secondary education, which spans grades 8 through 12.
From grade 0 to grade 7, Birlik International School offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes teaching, learning, and assessments in core subjects like science, math, and English. The curriculum is based on the globally recognized Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP). The Cambridge Primary Curriculum Framework is the central component of the CIPP, which is made up of various components.
For sixth-grade students, there are Cambridge Primary Checkpoints. It provides feedback on students' areas of strength and weakness in the three main curriculum areas: science, math, and English. Cambridge University is the provider of these assessments. The university staff grades the examinations.
