Blue Collar

Blue Collar, a Miami native and the city's top destination for modern comfort, opened its doors in 2012 after being a labor of love for Chef Daniel Serfer (New Times Best Chef 2015). In order to avoid a lengthy wait for a table, devoted followers of Danny Serfer's Blue Collar know to get there early. The modest, three-year-old restaurant in the historic MiMo District of Miami's Upper East Side is often busy, and only recently did it begin taking reservations for lunch, dinner, and brunch service.


In dishes like conch fritters with spicy tartar sauce, fried green tomatoes with buttermilk dressing, and a braised brisket sandwich on Portuguese muffins with Dijon mustard, jus, and latkes and apple sauce, the chef/owner of Blue Collar takes an unpretentious approach to American classics and comfort food. More than 20 plates for sides or a vegetarian smorgasbord are available on the veggie-only chalkboard; match the sauteed kale with crushed red pepper, shallots, and white butter with the curried cauliflower puree. The restaurant's best-kept secret is a chocolate cake that the lead cook's mother makes (literally from scratch!). One slice of the French Valrhona chocolate that Margaret uses is frequently insufficient.

Blue Collar
offers an unheard-of variety of delicious meats and veggies, presented from a menu that lets you design your perfect plate. They have you covered if you want to indulge in a heart-stoppingly rich cheat lunch. However, if you want to keep it very light or even vegetarian or vegan, this restaurant can accommodate that as well. A superb assortment of craft brews and quality wines complete the menu. Save room for dessert; the bread pudding with Heath Bars and Butterscotch is legendary.
