Blue Mountains

The natural blue haze formed by extensive eucalypt forests in this World Heritage region gives the Blue Mountains their name. The unusual color is created when tiny droplets of oil emitted from the trees interact with water vapour and sunlight.

From cliff top lookouts, take in the beauty of this pristine area. Learn about the region's historic Aboriginal heritage while exploring waterfalls, valleys, and rough sandstone tablelands. Limestone crystals and underground rivers can be found deep within the Jenolan Caves.

The Blue Mountains, which provide a panoramic view of the three sisters, are a must-see if you wish to ascend the highest peaks and appreciate the city from above. However, because the weather around the hill is comparably colder during July Christmas, the trail to the summit is more delightful.
